Competition Details

The John Warner Middle School Minecraft Club is hosting a K-5 Minecraft build competition to engage Columbia elementary students in game-based learning that inspires creative and inclusive teamwork.

Entering the Competition

  1. Form a Team
    K-1-2 = Teams of 2 - 4 students each
    3-4-5 = Teams of 3 - 5 students each
  2. Plan & Build Your Entry
    K-1-2 = Food-Themed Pixel Art
    3-4-5 = Columbia Area Restaurants
  3. Submit Your Entry
    Use the Entry Form on the COMO Crafting Challenge Website

    Only ONE member from each team should submit your team’s entry.

K - 1 - 2 Competition

Teams of two to four (2-4) students compete by creating a piece of pixel art. The theme of this competition is Food. To enter, teams must create and submit school-appropriate pixel art related to any food of their choosing. Pixel art may be 2D (a flat shape) or 3D (a pop out shape).

Requirements
Each team must submit two (2) screenshots of their pixel art for judging.

Criteria for Judging

3 - 4 - 5 Competition

Teams of three to five (3-5) students compete by recreating an actual eating establishment in or around Columbia, Missouri. The theme of this competition is Columbia Restaurants. Students create a school-appropriate build to represent a well-known Columbia restaurant of their choosing.

Rules & Requirements

To participate, students must ensure their builds are created in our official JWMS Minecraft world. No size limitations apply to the builds, but all submissions must be in this designated world.

Submissions & Judging

Entries are due by May 5
Teams will submit their entry form and images to the judging panel made up of members of the John Warner Minecraft Club. Judges will select winners for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each grade level competition (K-2 and 3-5). Winners will be announced and prizes awarded before the end of the school year. Winners will be showcased on the COMO Crafting Challenge website (here!).

  • All entries must be built in the official world.
  • All entries must be submitted on or before May 5, 2025
  • Submissions must include team name, screenshots, and a brief description.

The last day to enter this competition is May 5, 2025.

Note: KEEP YOUR WORLD FILES - Winning teams from each school in grades 3-5 will be asked to submit their Minecraft worlds for further judging in the City-wide round of competition.
